How Bulk Import and Export Work
- Drag in whole folder trees. Select folders on a local or network drive and drop them into an infoRouter folder. infoRouter recreates the directory structure automatically.
- Folder rules apply on arrival. Imported documents take on the permissions of the folder they land in, and in folders where infoRouter Connect is switched on, each document is categorized and its data extracted as it arrives.
- Export as a zip file. Select folders or documents and download them as a zip file for offline copies or to hand over to someone outside infoRouter.

Moving from a shared file server
Your organization has documents on a network drive organized into department folders. Drag those folders into infoRouter Libraries: departments become folders, subfolders stay intact, and files keep their original formats.
Replacing an older document system
Export the files from the old system to a staging folder, then drag them into infoRouter in bulk. If the old system's metadata needs to come across too, it can be mapped through infoRouter's Web Services API as an integration project.
Archiving historical records
When old file repositories need to come under managed control for compliance or retention, import them into folders that already carry the right permissions and retention schedules, and those rules apply from the moment the documents arrive.
Before a Large Migration
- Choose the target folders first. Permissions and, with the Compliance module, retention schedules come from the folder a document lands in.
- Mind Connect folders. Every file imported into a folder where infoRouter Connect is switched on is processed by Connect, so for a large historical import, pick the folders deliberately.
